Summer reading

　　Long time no see! I 'm sorry, but I have had a good vacation!
　　In this summer, I read "The Summer Before". It was written by John Steinbeck. In the reading classes, I was told about this story. But, his English expression is very difficult to understand, isn't it?
　　I could see what his childhood was like. At first, I thought Willie is a very strange boy. But he was a girl! Is it possible?
　　I will try reading this Autumn, too. But I decided to select the story which is easier than those written by John Steinbeck. I will do my best.☆

　She likes fruits and vegetables, and she is very healthy!

My reading this week 9

　　I will talk to you about my reading class. In the class, we use a text book"Uncollected Stories of John Steinbeck". This book is very very difficult!! I cannot much understand even with a dictionary. I must read it, and we are to translate the sentences in this book on the test.
　　But if I am used to the novels once, I can enjoy a relish peculiar to them, I believe.
　　The first story is about a boy. His parents are divorced, so he languishes. I felt sorry for him. I am very happy with my parents.

　　We had a meeting on Wednesday this week. We finished the textbook 47 page, and made 4 nights/5 days tour. We used our imagination.
　　I will do my best in the final presentation!

　　Our final presentation is "Let's make 1192!!".
　　We selected a country which is between France and Spain. There is many items about the country― name, flag, map, population, language, history, geography, natural resources, and so on. We divided them between four members.
　　I'm working its population, language, and sightseeing spot. I need a vivid imagination!

My reading this week 8

　　I chose "Notting Hill" this week. This story was made into a movie, and I like the movie. This happy end always makes me feel happy. I think the story shows that all humans are equivalent in value.
　　By the way, the level of this book is ３. It was not so difficult, although I read books whose level were 2 until last week. So I intend to challenge the level 4.

My reading this week 7

　　When I choose a book, at first I glance through the book, looking at pictures and sentences, and consider about the level. Finally, I decide by whether I want to read the book or not.
　　By the way, I read this week "The House on the Hill". This is a story of Paul and Maria. Paul was poor, but Maria was rich. They loved each other, but Maria loved riches than Paul. Maria married a rich man. But Paul could not forget her. She was beautiful, but she did not have veritable beauty, I think. Paul noticed that. Finally Maria becomes unhappy, Paul becomes happy. I thought it was natural.

My reading this week 6

　　I read "Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" this week. I thought Catskill Mountain is very mysterious place, but I never want to go there! Rip Van Winkle is like "Urashimatarou" in Japanese fairy tale. I was very sorry for him. Ichabod is also poor man! I wonder where he is. But I think the Headless Horseman was Brom, the big rival of Ichabod.
　　I like happy stories, so I do not like horrible story. I must find a happy story book for the next reading!

Speaking class Activity

　　My group had a meeting yesterday, and completed preparing for the questionnaire. Topic of our survey is "part-time job". I will start to ask my friends. Many university students have or want a part-time jobs, so I think this survey will be interesting.

My reading this week 5 in 県立大！

　　In 県立大, I read "The Nutcracker" too. It is a dreamworld. If I read this book in early childhood, I would want a wooden nutcracker doll. He will bring me to Ice queen's palace and the land of sweets. I think it is good dream. (^0^) This is a picture book for beginners or children, so it was very easy.
　　There are many many English books in the library of 県立大！I am very pleased with this library.
　　I have been used to reading in English. It is very hard to read books which is high level, but I think that it is about time I raise the level. I will make effort to improve my reading skill.

My reading this week 4 in 県立大！

　　I went to Kumamoto Prefecture University, Kennritsudai, on June 1st, and I read "Snow White and Rose Red". In this story, two girls meet a bear, and they are kind enough to help him. I thought they are very brave. Finally two girls become princesses. I enjoyed many illustrations in this book.

　

My reading this week 3

　　I read "Good Wives " this week. This story is a sequel to "LITTLE WOMEN". I think this story represents love in family very much. Although they encounter many difficulties, they all become happy at last- falling in love, marriage, birth of new life. This story is an encouragement to me.

　　At First I read "LITTLE WOMEN". It is my favorite story. This story represents how four women grow up. I especially identified myself with Joe.

　　We have a group homework this week. We must do survey on each topic. And the topic of our survey is part-time job. I hope it will become an interesting survey.
